Our nation is a small island that has made its mark around the world.Let us not forget what we owe this piece of island that has given us place to live in. The little wonders of wild that co-exist with manmade structures won’t sustain for long if we are unaware of their needs.

Singapore has animals in places other than the zoo? Long before we arrived here, lived our ancestors from millions of years ago of which, some still continue to live and are evolving. Singapore was once covered in dense forests

of which only 5% remains.Of this, only 1% is primary

forest where the habitat remains unaltered by humans.

Today, in the wild forests of Singapore, live
52 species of mammals, 364 species of birds and 98 species of reptiles. Source: http://www.cbd.int/doc/world/sg/sg-nr-04-en.pdf

Eh, serious? Singapore got wildlife?

Singapore has animals in places other than

the zoo?

In about two months I obtained no less than

700 species of beetles, a large proportion of

which were quite new... Almost all these were collected in one patch of jungle, not more

than a square mile in extent, and in all my subsequent travels in the East I rarely if

ever met with so productive a spot.
