The not so famous national bird

Singapore had a public poll to select its National bird, back in 2002. Turns out nobody knows about this beautiful bird, the crimson sunbird. We need better projects to make the local wildlife popular.

What should you look for in a "good" designer?

A good designer's design will always stand out from the rest. It has the ability to communicate with you. It is not hard to tell good design from bad but just keep the points above in mind.

If possible pick a someone who has atleast a diploma in visual communication/ graphic design/ design advertising.

Layouts are the most important aspect to look at when judging good design. A good designer will handle the placement of text and images which fit into the frame of a page visually well.

Ask them to show you a portfolio of their works. It is not hard to tell the difference between good and bad design.

Simplified map of Singapore by Nicholas Loke

Nicholas Loke is a graphic design graduate from Lasalle College of the Arts. His final year project involved a volume of works about Singapore and how it is perceived. This particular page is about the map he re-designed for Singapore. With designers like his taste and skill, wildlife projects can gain a better communication level.
